Version 1.30.100 available
« on: June 06, 2008, 12:32:23 AM »
Hi all,

We have made a new version 1.30.100 available for download.  For more information about what new features and fixes are included in this version, please take a look at the version information at

From now on we will release monthly or bi-monthly builds with new updates and features and the initial release period has come to an end.  We very much appreciate your business and all the help and suggestions that we have received from our customers and testers:)

We would appreciate if you would take the time to uninstall the version that you have installed before you download and install the new version.  We made quite a few significant changes to the design of the software and the full uninstall-install process is better suited to handle it than the web update for this time only.  Uninstalling the software will not affect your data in any way.

Next release will also require Maintenance Plan to install updates.  We will be sending out emails with Maintenance Plans this week and you should have received your Maintenance Plan emails before the end of this week.  You will receive a Maintenance Plan that will be
valid until June 30, 2009.

This new build has a long list of new features and fixes.  You can review the list at

One of the most significant new feature is the "Set Variable" action which is now a very powerful function to set variables in the project.  We use this for example to control all version information when we rebuild the Build Automator.  All our dlls, exe and the
installs are all compiled with the same version information.

We have made one drastic change in the design of the software.  After a lot of thinking and planning we decided to drop the idea of two different editions, the Standard and Developer Editions.  Instead we will sell the Build Automator by itself along with
standard actions and rather than cram everything else into a single Developer Edition, we will provide plug-ins that deal with specific tasks and make those plug-ins available for sale.

We feel that this gives us a better chance to group together related highly specialized code into a single plug-in dll.  It would also give you more freedom to choose what you need.  For example we might develop specific plug-ins that give a lot of options and power
to users of Visual Studio, but would be of little or no interest to people who use Clarion or Delphi.  Same for Clarion and Delphi.  Another example would be plug-ins that applied only to InstallShield or Wise or Setup Builder with very specific actions for those tools.
Finally we want to thank you for participating in the initial release of the Build Automator.  We have got great input and feedback from our initial release testers which has helped us make the Build Automator a stable and useful tool.

If you have any specific requests for new functionality or you need help with creating specific solutions, please contact us:)

Best regards,
